Night view of Kuala Lumpur skyline

Malaysia has gained a lot of popularity recently, especially after making it visa-free for many countries including India. Malaysia is like a mix bowl, full of skyscrapers and lit streets, pristine coastlines, rare wildlife, and yet, preserves its cultural diversity. It has so much to explore that a list of all the places would be just the thing you need.

No doubt, we all try to explore as much as possible to fully immerse ourselves in a country’s culture and create memorable memories, but it is never enough. Here’s a list of the 10 best places to visit and explore in Malaysia and plan your 7 days guide.

  1. Spectacular view from KL Tower and Twin Tower

Well! this is THE place to watch the skyline of Malaysia. Till miles, you can witness the skyscrapers under the starry lights. You can visit KL Tower at any point in time, and the view will never disappoint you. It offers a wide range of activities, but we cherry-picked Observation deck and skywalk.

Twin Tower or Petronas Tower, one of the tallest twin buildings of the world, is a crown of Malaysia. It is visible from everywhere and the view is breathtaking at night or day.

  1. Walk and admire the Art in Petaling Street

Petaling Street renowned as Chinatown, is the most vibrant street of Malaysia. This street will give you a true glimpse of  Malay cuisine, its people, vibrancy, basically what we call “Malay Street”. You can spend hours on this street for shopping and gift yourself a good collection of souvenirs.

  1. Climb colorful stairs in Batu Caves

Batu caves top all the to-do lists of Malaysia. One of the oldest Hindu temples of Malaysia welcomes you with the tallest statue of Lord Murugan alongside colorful and picturesque staircase. You will witness the temple in limestone caves, beautifully carved out and cared for by Tamilian Hindus.

  1. Adventure Mania at Genting Highlands

Genting is just the kind of fun you need. It is a entertainment resort built on a mountain, outside of Kuala Lumpur. It has spectacular views, beautiful stays, and spectacular theme parks. Some of the rides give you breathtaking views covered in clouds.

Travel Tip: Carry an umbrella as it can drizzle when you walk in the clouds ;)

  1. Breathtaking ride to Mangrove Forests

Mangrove forests are something to groove on!! You can see the best of mangroves in Langkawi on a thrilling boat ride that takes you to bat caves, eagle hunt, crocodile caves, and much more. Check out this video to see what’s waiting for you.

  1. Staircase to Heaven: Sky Bridge

When I read about Sky Bridge, I just thought of a sky-high bridge at some height from where you could see the entirety of Langkawi and the touching waters. Well, technically I was right, but here comes the exhilarating part. The WIND. It is so windy, that you can almost see the wind here!! Watch this clip to brace yourself for Sky Bridge.

Travel Tip:Not the best day to wear short dresses.

  1. Cherish the beauty on Sunset Cruise

Sunset Cruise in Langkawi

Sunset cruise - one of the best experiences to see the sun touching the waters while sipping beer. You can plan this a day in advance in Langkawi and pre-book your sunset cruise.  Would recommend being wary of time as the last one leaves at 4 PM.

While you sit at the edge of the ferry surrounded by water and wind in your hair, forgetting all about the problems and just staring at the sunset, that’s when you know what it is like to live in the present. I cherish such moments. We all do.

  1. Marvel tree-top view from The Habitat

The Habitat at Penang Hill

The Habitat: there should be one place that should not be explained with words. I can show you what this place was all about.

You can also refer to this blog to find more offbeat places in Penang.

  1. Vertical Cable Car to Penang Hill

Glide straight way up the hill on a chaircar. Penang Hill takes you on the top of the Penang and leaves you in the middle of tranquility and nature.

  1. Magnificent Wildlife at Bako National Park

Borneo Orangutans eating bananas in Sarawak

Bako National Park - your portal to be amazed by the Borneo wildlife. You can take a flight to Kuching from Kuala Lumpur (approx 2 hours), and then reach Bako village via bus or taxi. I would recommend to leave from Kuching by 7 AM to start your day early. While planning the trail might seem a bit confusing you can refer to this blog. It helped me to plan my adventure well.

Travel Tip:Flights from Kuala Lumpur to Kuching can get delayed by as much as 2-3 hours as weather plays a critical role. If you are planning to include Sarawak in your itinerary, I would suggest reaching one day prior in the evening or arranging a stay at Sarawak.

Now that you know what all waits for you in Malaysia, check out this itinerary to plan your trip and share your experiences in the comments. I would love to hear about your travel experiences as well.

Cheers!
