We traveled to Malaysia a few weeks ago and it translated into one of the best travel diaries for us. We have often seen people traveling to Malaysia while sandwiching it with Singapore. We were about to do the same and then paused. Good that we paused at that moment!
This piece broadly covers the reasons to Visit Malaysia and Why it should definitely be the next travel vacation for you.
What to expect
How often does it happen that a country offers you a breathtaking skyline at night, and pristine coastlines in the day? Malaysia is a bundle of citylights, beautiful beaches, scrumptious food, and cherry on top, rare wildlife. Wildlife was one of the very reasons why we planned Malaysia. It has one of the oldest rainforests in the world and is home to Orangutans, Proboscis Monkeys, and many other rare species.
Weather
As Malaysia has an equatorial climate, you will find high temperatures and wet months throughout the year. Temperatures at sea level range from 21°C to 32°C, whilst at higher elevations it is much cooler, with temperatures ranging from 15°C to 25°C.
I always recommend avoiding peak seasons when the temperature is best as the influx is too high. It spoils the mood and nobody likes to be in long waiting queues. You can plan in the mixed seasons when the weather will not disappoint and is manageable.
People and culture of Malaysia
Malaysia has a rich and diversified cultural ethnicity. It has historically been a center of trade routes and thus, celebrates a mix of Malay, Chinese, Tamilians, and south-Asians. You will see a wide variety in the spoken languages and yet does not create any hindrance for tourists. English is widely spoken in the urban areas of Malaysia.
Although Malaysia is an Islamic country, it welcomes Hinduism and Buddhism as well. You would be able to visit a lot of temples, some of them being more than 150 years old.
Malaysian food or Malay cuisine is one of the most renowned cuisines of the world and takes the center place in the culture of Malaysia. People put their heart into preparing the food and are quite a host. There are dedicated streets where you would be able to find the native Malay cuisine and cherish it.
Safety advice and Travel tips
Malaysia is quite safe to travel. Generally, You would not face any problems while hopping in Malaysia. People in Malaysia are very kind, and welcoming and carry genuine smiles on their faces all the time. You can safely roam around on the streets during late hours as well.
But, we would recommend that you take precautions about certain things. Pickpocketing is a bit common in Malaysia, hence something to be cautious of. Go with your guts, before turning onto any dark streets.
Now, that you have enough reasons to visit and explore Malaysia, take a sneak peek at must-do things in Malaysia and a travel itinerary that can make this visit a magical experience.
